Gilt bronze; églomisé and painted glass panels backed with engine-turned silver leaf; metal; enamels; red fabric.

Two-leaf natural varnished wood case with gilt bronze and brass mounts, lined internally with red velvet.

H. 62.5 cm (25 ¼ in.); L. 21 cm (8 ¼ in.); D. 21 cm (8 ¼ in.).

MARKS AND INSCRIPTIONS: Donné par la Roi Charles Albert au Cte de Seyssel en juillet 1840 et Offert comme souvenir reconnaissat. à ses bons Amis Rte. et Ate. Cornelissen en mai 1853, engraved in two rectangular cartouches visible on one side of the clock’s base; 4537, inventory number engraved on the back of the movement; PENDULE PYRAMIDE AVEC UN AIGLE, inscription engraved in capital letters on a gilt-brass plaque fixed to the clock case; ER/35/I35, recent inventory number in black and red marker on a white trapezoidal plastic plaque affixed to the bottom of the left leaf of the case.

PROVENANCE: Very likely from the collection of Marie-Louise-Thérèse of Savoy-Carignan (1749–1792), Princess of Lamballe.
